Looking through it I find that it is beautifully illustrated and accompanied by short but well written stories about the saint of that day. It is a book that will deepen your knowledge in the lives of the saints since it covered many well known saints but also a good many that aren't as well known. The Golden Legend (Latin: Legenda aurea or Legenda sanctorum) is a collection of hagiographies by Blessed Jacobus de Varagine that was widely read in late medieval Europe. More than a thousand manuscripts of the text have survived. It was likely compiled around the year , although the text was added to over the centuries.
